ARTIST BIO’S

  • owner/tattoo artist/fine artist

Since I can remember, my life has revolved around art. My father, an artist himself, provided endless encouragement and support throughout my life’s various artistic endeavors. I attended Western Kentucky University where I studied and majored in studio art with a concentration in sculpture. College allowed me to experiment in an array of artistic and creative experiences. After studying abroad in Australia, for my minor in interior design, I graduated in 2007. Upon graduation I co-founded Retrograde Studios, a non-profit organization geared toward providing opportunities in preparation for the future endeavors for the students and alumni of WKU Dept. of Art. Retrograde Studios opened many doors for me. One of which gave me the opportunity to work for the Capital Arts and the Youth Theatre, constructing set designs. Art has remained a constant in my life, carrying me from one exciting experience to another. Bronze casting, steel fabrication, oil painting, and lithography are just a few of the many artistic skills I’ve acquired from leading an art driven life. From mural painting, to portraiture, I am able to use my artistic experiences and find my way through life.

I was born in Russellville, Kentucky. I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2018 where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, and a Bachelor of Arts in Ceramics. My work has been included in several shows such as the US Bank Celebration of the Arts 2019, where I placed first in professional painting, The Women in the Arts Exhibit, and the 2019 Art Juxtaposed Exhibit in Rosendale, New York. My work focuses primarily on painting using both traditional oil paint and digital painting techniques. I am now excited to be apprenticing at Permanent Paint in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

  • tattoo artist/piercer/fine artist

Hey, I’m Rachel! I’m the piercer and a tattoo artist at Permanent Paint. I graduated from WKU with Bachelors degrees in Studio Arts and Art History, with a focus on drawing and ceramics. I’ve been passionate about tattooing and body modification for as long as I can remember, and I consider it a privilege to work together with a client to make their vision a reality. I’ve had years of personal experience with piercings and tattoos, and I make sure that I can provide a client with all of the information they need to feel confident and happy with their decision. I strive to create a relaxed and friendly environment and I love being approached with cool ideas.

  • tattoo artist/fine artist

My journey here hasn’t been the typical artistic journey. I landed at Permanent Paint simply by fate. I was born with art inside. My mom encouraged my art expression and enrolled me in art classes very

early in life. Throughout school, art was my niche, and I entered collage in pursuit of an art degree. The Art degree never came, but the art inside me never died. I ended up with a dual degree in Healthcare…all along drawing and creating never stopped. I’ve had my hand in commissioned work of

dogs, homes, and my art was used as a mural in the hallways of a high school. I’ve designed shirts for teams, and events over the years. I dabbled in photography. I’ve been in Women in the Arts over the years for a multitude of media. I currently have work on display at an area hospital. I also create wood bowls sourced from local creeks, and lake areas. I’m most relaxed and happy when I am creating, and I am grateful for this opportunity that life has tossed me.

  • tattoo artist

Tattooing has indirectly and directly been a part of my life since I can remember. Seeing my parents and grandparents getting frequent tattoos as a child sparked my interest at an early age in tattooing and initiated my art journey that set me on the path to become the artist I am today. As an adult, I entered the fire service alongside the military and continue to serve in both roles. The discipline and attention to detail I acquired through firefighting and military service has carried directly over to tattooing.

I was lucky enough to be accepted to train and hone my skills as an artist with Permanent Paint Tattoo Studios, marking one of the most important and proud milestones of my life. Tattooing at Permanent Paint has provided me the opportunity to push my boundaries and comfort zones, trying new styles and methods. I am constantly learning to improve my abilities and skills for my customers and myself. While my portfolio is primarily focused in American traditional, I tattoo an array of styles included black work, blackouts, neo-traditional and many more. I’m so excited to be part of the team here at Permanent Paint! I will forge long lasting relationships with my clients and work tirelessly to bring their visions to life!
